Everyday Actions to Minimize the Achievement Gap and Opportunity Gap
|
About the Session:
The achievement gap in schools and the opportunity gap outside of school are phrases to describe students and people who do not have access to certain structures which support the realization of one’s potential. These terms are used to describe macrosystems that define who we are as a community, state, or nation. Rarely are we encouraged to examine the things that we see and do on a daily basis that might unintentionally contribute to the existence of inequity. This presentation will link the achievement gap and opportunity gap and provide an opportunity for the participant to reflect on how those gaps impact their lives. |
