The parking lot closure is necessary for crack sealing maintenance, which is essential to preserve the integrity of the parking lot surface.
The closure at Snyder Street is anticipated to last for two (2) days, though it is weather dependent. We will post a more definitive time frame next week. Should conditions allow, work will proceed as planned, but delays may occur due to inclement weather. During this time, we kindly ask all visitors to adhere to posted closure signage and barricades to ensure safety. Additionally, the Leslie Groves Park Parking Lot at Saint Street will also be closed during the week of April 7 – 11, 2025, for the same crack sealing maintenance. The closure at Saint Street is anticipated to last for one (1) day, also weather dependent. Visitors are advised to utilize alternative nearby park parking lots during this period and follow any posted signage. Alternative parking will be available in nearby lots and boat launches. For a list of alternative parking locations and boat launches in the area, please scan the QR code provided in the image above. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we perform these necessary repairs to improve the overall safety and quality of our park facilities. The City of Pasco is pleased to announce the appointment of Haylie Miller as its new Community & Economic Development Director. Miller brings over 15 years of experience in community development and planning, including nearly six years as a Community Development Director.
“I am passionate about helping cities navigate growth to create meaningful places that both current and future residents can call home,” said Miller. “My focus is on fostering efficiency in government operations to ensure exceptional, timely, and transparent service.” Interim City Manager Dave Zabell says Miller’s record of enhancing department effectiveness, implementing process efficiencies, and fostering strong customer service practices will be important for the city’s future. “As Pasco continues to expand and evolve, strong leadership in community and economic development is critical to ensuring we provide the right tools and processes to support sustainable growth,” said Zabell. “Haylie’s experience in improving operational efficiencies and fostering collaboration makes her a great fit for this role. The City of Pasco invites residents to celebrate Arbor Day with a special event at Volunteer Park on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM. As part of Pasco’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and urban forestry, the celebration will feature a ceremonial tree planting and the official unveiling of the Volunteer Park Tree Walk.
Pasco is proud to be recognized as a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation, honoring the City’s dedication to urban tree care and environmental stewardship. The new Tree Walk at Volunteer Park offers an interactive, self-guided tour highlighting the many tree species growing throughout the park. A virtual Tree Walk is also available online: Tree Walk | Pasco, WA - Official Website. Visitors can enjoy audio descriptions in English and Spanish, recorded by students from Pasco High School and Chiawana High School, to learn about the trees as they explore the space. The City encourages all residents to attend, participate in the celebration, and experience the Tree Walk firsthand. 100 attendees will also have the opportunity to take home small trees donated by McCurley Subaru. The City of Pasco invites residents and stakeholders to participate in two upcoming listening sessions to provide input on the development of a user guide for the City's Shoreline Master Program (SMP). The SMP is a planning and regulatory document required by the Washington State Shoreline Management Act (SMA) and updated every 10 years. The SMA is intended to help balance environmental protection with public access and water use.
The user guide aims to assist the public in understanding critical components of the SMP, which governs the management, access, and protection of Pasco's shorelines. Listening Session Details:
The draft SMP User Guide is available for review on the City's website at https://www.pasco-wa.gov/858/Shoreline-Master-Program. Residents are encouraged to review the document prior to the listening sessions. Annual city-wide herbicide application for noxious weed control is slated to start on or around April 9, weather dependent. The City has contracted these services out to Rimrock Landscapes to perform this work. The primary focus will be to control weeds in the curb/gutter line and gravel shoulders on all of the City’s main roadways.
A dye (either yellow or blue) is mixed with the herbicide to assist with the wet application, which usually dries within 30 minutes. The dye will fade in three to four weeks and application areas are safe for people and pets to enter once the application is dry. If there is inadvertent contact with wet herbicide, it is recommended to remove contaminated clothing and rinse skin immediately with plenty of water for 15-20 minutes. A map of the specific application can be viewed on our City website at: https://www.go2kennewick.com/1462/Notice-of-Annual-Weed-Control-and-Herbic Please call the City of Kennewick Public Works Department at (509) 585-4419 with any questions. |
