Tri-Cities Cancer Center Offering Virtual Cancer Fighting Cooking Classes Starting This Month5/11/2020 The Tri-Cities Cancer Center is excited to announce that we are making a change to the way we are offering our Cancer Crushing Cuisine Cooking Classes for the next few months to ensure the health and safety of our patients, community and staff.
Starting in May, the Tri-Cities Cancer Center in partnership with Chef Kyle Thornhill of Tsunami Catering will be offering fun and educational cooking classes called Small Bytes that you can take from the comfort of your own home. The classes will be led by Chef Thornhill and will highlight the cancer fighting properties of the ingredients in the dish being prepared. Each class will be held from 6:00-7:00PM using Zoom. Each cooking class will be unique and will be limited to 8 participants per class. Ingredients for the virtual class will be delivered the day of the class to each participant via a no-contact delivery. To register or for more information, please visit tccancer.org/cuisine When: Wed, May 20th | Wed, June 10th | Wed, August 12th | Wed, October 14th from 6:00-7:00PM Where: Comfort of your own home Cost: $40 per individual per session ($20 for supplies and apron; $20 will go to the TCCC Foundation to fund the building of a community garden) Prosser Memorial Health, in partnership with the Prosser School District, Thrive Coalition, Boys & Girls Club of Prosser and Comprehensive Mental Health, will launch an online mental health initiative for youth in our community May 7, 2020.
Mustangs Matter is an interactive, social media-based platform where teens can talk to local mental healthcare providers like Heather Morse, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at the Prosser Clinic, and discuss a variety of different topics facing youth today. Mustangs Matter has an Instagram page with IGT Live to view the discussions in real time and submit questions and comments. The videos will also be available on the Mustangs Matter website: www.mustangsmatter.org. The website also has a number of resources for youth and parents, phone numbers and a dedicated email, mustangsmatter@gmail.com, where someone can reach out directly if they need additional resources or have a concern they would like addressed privately. “Mustangs Matter sprung out of conversations I was having in the community when I was conducting face-to-face interviews on community needs in our area and how the Boys & Girls Club in Prosser would respond to those needs. Hands down everyone rated teen mental health as the number one area of need. Our Mustangs Matter partners all have some resources for teens in need of support and resources but after talking we decided it was best to pool our resources and create a platform that was more relatable for our target audience. Thus, we went down the interactive, social media path,” said Jessica Hoefer, Resource Director, Prosser Boys & Girls Club. There is a student advisory group from Prosser High School that is part of this initiative as well. Select students along with a mental healthcare provider will discuss on live stream videos relevant mental health topics that teens face along with ways to cope. “We wanted to make sure that whatever we ended up doing in response to the teen mental health need was relevant, meaningful and delivered in a way that would get youth interested and engaged in the information,” said Erika Wassom, Project Coordinator, Thrive Coalition. Future topics include: Dealing with depression, anxiety, suicide prevention, and how to help friends in need. Trios Health is pleased to announce that Trios Southridge Hospital has been awarded Level III Trauma Designation for adult and pediatric services from the Washington State Department of Health.
This designation demonstrates the attentiveness that Trios Health has toward providing high-quality trauma care for our community. “It shows that we’re really committed to providing a high-level of trauma care to the community and that we’re trying to raise the bar to give the community better treatments. The community knowing that we provide Level III trauma care is a big confidence booster,” said Bryson Casale, Trauma and Stroke Coordinator. “As a hospital, you don’t have to be designated, but it shows a level of commitment to the trauma program and compliance with state laws.” Trios Health CEO John Solheim added, “We’re proud of our trauma team and the work they do in Making Communities Healthier. This designation is a reflection of their commitment and diligence to ensuring that we’re able to provide high-quality trauma care and their willingness to go the extra mile for our patients.” The designation continues Trios’ current Level III designation, which is renewed every three years. Trios is also the only Tri-Cities area hospital with a pediatric trauma designation. The state offers a limited number of pediatric trauma designations per region. Trios is in the South-Central Region. The designation entitles Trios to use the trauma service designation level title, receive trauma patients from the prehospital agencies and referring facilities in the state, and receive annual Trauma Fund grants. Bryson said the Trios trauma program group has been working diligently to remain in compliance with state laws and have a quality trauma program. “There are benchmarks we’ve had pretty significant turnaround on, and we’ve worked to update major policies and have a multidisciplinary quality improvement program,” he said. Bryson said Trios passed the designation review with no outstanding items. He added that the trauma program will continue to seek ways to improve and provide quality trauma care for our community. Hayden Homes has been honored with the 2020 Avid Benchmark Award for excellence in homebuyer satisfaction. Four of Hayden Homes’ regions including, Central Oregon, I-5 Oregon, Inland Northwest and South Idaho, were recognized for scoring among the top 25 percent of Avid’s nationwide databases on the New Home Move-in Experience survey. In addition, two team members, Community Manager Matthew Schoener and Project Manager James Russell, were recognized with Service Awards for scoring among the top 10 percent of Avid’s nationwide database.
“We are deeply honored to receive these awards,” said Geoff Harris, Customer Experience Director for Hayden Homes. “Our team is passionate about supporting our buyers through their home buying journey and this award is a testament to their dedication of providing the most caring and trusting experience possible.” Homebuilders throughout the U.S. were honored with the prestigious awards for scoring highest with their customers on homebuying experience surveys. Award winners were chosen based on results received from some of the largest publicly traded NYSE/NASDAQ builders, North America’s largest private builders, and hundreds of small volume and custom builders from coast to coast. “We are very excited to announce the winners for our Avid Awards this year. The builders we are honoring have shown a dedication to service and quality that far exceeds expectations,” said Zach Buehl, vice president of client success, Avid Ratings. “The recipients should be proud of their accomplishments as all of Avid's customers care deeply about customer experience, but these select few have risen above and beyond the crowd. Avid is proud to bestow honors on each and every winner.” The Avid Awards are regarded as a trusted benchmark of customer service performance in the homebuilding industry. Avid Ratings has long been at the forefront of bringing transparency of builder performance to consumers by consumers since 1992. In order to determine the Avid Award winners, homebuilding companies are evaluated using Avid’s award-winning platform. Every homebuyer survey in Avid’s database is meticulously analyzed to determine each builder’s Avid Index Score, which is evaluated using scores from the total homebuying experience, the willingness to refer, and the actual number of recommendations a buyer has made.
