Prosser Memorial Health now offers HD 3D Mammography in the Radiology Department. The Hologic Genius 3D Mammography exam allows providers to examine breast tissue layer by layer. This means fine details are more visible and no longer hidden by the tissue above or below. The Genius exam is currently the only mammogram FDA approved as superior for women with dense breasts. The unique Smart Curve Paddle provides more comfort and the Genius delivers a much faster image. It takes just 3.7 seconds as opposed to 10 seconds or more on a typical 3D machine.
“I am proud and excited to let our community know that we now have High Definition, 3D mammography at Prosser Memorial Health. This technology is the most sophisticated offered anywhere in Central Washington which is a pretty big deal for Prosser. It's also important to know that technology alone isn't the answer. It is the partnership between the HD 3D technology and the technique used by our team of highly skilled and trained technologists who know the importance of placement and positioning to reduce call backs, increase accuracy and give our patients the peace of mind they deserve when coming in for a mammogram," said Verlaine Schneider, Lead Mammography Specialist. "I have been doing mammography for more than 30 years. I know what is required to perform a mammogram correctly. At Prosser Memorial Health, we are committed to giving you our very best. I am confident that with our team at Prosser Memorial Health and the investment in this technology, our patients will receive superior service and superior outcomes. The best anywhere!" Prosser Memorial Health is a Mammography and CT Accredited Facility and currently the only provider in the Yakima Valley or Tri-Cities region offering HD 3D Mammography with Smart Curve Technology.
