The City of Pasco is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Harkins as a Deputy Fire Chief for the Pasco Fire Department. Harkins officially began his role on September 3, bringing nearly three decades of experience in fire service to the community. Harkins started his career in 1996 through the Portland Community College Fire Science program, where he gained hands-on experience interning with Clark County Fire District 12. This led to several part-time firefighter positions with multiple fire districts in the Clark-Cowlitz area. In 2000, he joined the Kennewick Fire Department, where he served for 24 years, most recently appointed as Battalion Chief in 2020. “I am very passionate about the Fire Service, specifically our mission to help those in need and the operational skill set necessary to fulfill this duty effectively,” said Harkins. “I was drawn to the Pasco Fire Department by their reputation for mission-focused, all-hazard emergency response and prevention. I look forward to working with the Pasco team to continue providing excellent service to the residents and visitors of Pasco.” In addition to his firefighting career, Harkins serves as a part-time instructor in the Fire Science program at Columbia Basin College, helping prepare the next generation of fire service professionals. Outside of work, Harkins enjoys spending time with his family on their hobby farm, raising cows, horses, and chickens. An avid outdoorsman, Harkins enjoys activities that involve family, the mountains, or the beach. “We are excited to welcome Tim to our leadership team,” said Kevin Crowley, Pasco Fire Chief. “His extensive experience and passion for public service will undoubtedly strengthen our department and further enhance the quality of emergency response in Pasco.” Harkins and his wife, Robynn, have been married for 26 years and have six children and three grandchildren. The City of Pasco is excited about the experience and leadership he brings to the Fire Department as it continues its commitment to providing exceptional emergency services.
