The Academy of Children’s Theatre is a staging a production of the popular holiday classic, “Elf,” on December 7, 14, and 15 at 7 p.m. at the ACT Theatre, 213 Wellsian Way in Richland. Matinee performances at 3 p.m. will be offered on Dec. 8, 9, 15, and 16.
Tickets are now available on line at www.academyofchildrenstheatre.org, by calling 509-943-6027, or by visiting the ACT office. Ticket prices are $16 for adults, $13 for seniors (65+) and youth (13-18), and $10 for children under age 13. ACT anticipates a sell out for each performance and encourages early ticket purchase. The ACT production features a cast of 43 youth actors, ages 9 and older. Directed by Josh Darby and produced by Lisa Howell, “Elf” is an engaging and hilarious musical with a heartfelt holiday message. The script closely follows the classic Disney movie, and it is considered one of the most memorable modern Christmas stories. The plot revolves around Buddy, a human reared as a Santa’s Elf, who travels to New York City in search of his father. Playing the lead role of Buddy is Lauren Decker, a junior at Southridge. Cast as Jovie is Katy Connors, also a junior at Southridge. Appealing to all ages, attending the show is recommended as a fun holiday activity for the whole family. Running time is just over an hour.
