From an initial list of over 40,000 Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), CNBC, with the help of AccuPoint Solutions, narrowed the field to 812 firms that met their proprietary criteria.  Extensive surveys were completed and then verified by CNBC data and with the SEC regulatory database to narrow the field.  AccuPoint Solutions then applied CNBC’s proprietary weighted categories to further refine and rank the firms, ultimately creating the list of the top 100 firms.  CNBC receives no compensation or direct benefit from placing financial advisory firms on this annual ranking.
