Richland Public Library Adjusts Weekday Hours Beginning September 2

The Richland Public Library will update its weekday hours of operation beginning Tuesday, September 2, 2025. The new schedule, approved by the Richland Library Board and City Administration, will shift Monday through Thursday hours from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Friday through Sunday hours will remain unchanged.

This change reflects patterns in patron use, as the library consistently sees low traffic during the 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. hour, and increased demand in the morning.

“We’ve seen that many of our patrons, particularly families attending morning storytimes, prefer earlier access to the library,” said Chris Nulph, Library Manager. “By opening at 9:00 a.m., we’re able to efficiently balance our community needs for general library use while maintaining our evening meeting room availability.”

As part of this change, library meeting rooms will remain available until 8:00 p.m. Previously, meeting rooms were available until 8:30 p.m. This adjustment ensures community groups still have ample evening access with minimal disruption.
