The Academy of Children’s Theatre has awarded its two $1,000 Linda and Keith Hoffman scholarships to Cleo Howell for outstanding stage performance and to Dylan Harbo for technical backstage excellence. ACT is also announcing the addition to staff of production manager Lisa Howell.
This is the second year of the Hoffman scholarship awards program. Cleo Howell has participated at ACT since she was in grade school, and she is currently portraying Lincoln in ACT’s production of Keeping Mr. Lincoln, which will compete in Gettysburg at a youth theatre festival competition. She was cast as Belle in Beauty and the Beast and played Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty. Dylan Harbo has also participated at ACT since he was a young child, and he most recently choreographed complex scenes in the recent production of Alice In Wonderland. Dylan is the student director for Keeping Mr. Lincoln. Both students are members of ACT’s auditioned performance acting ensembles. The two scholarship recipients will be honored at a reception at ACT on Sunday, May 19th at 3:30 p.m. ACT has also hired Lisa Howell in the staff position of Production Manage. She brings a wealth of experience to this new role, having produced nine ACT shows, property managed 13 productions, assistant directed two shows and been active in the organization for more than ten years.
