After a full day of interviews and deliberations, Council selected by majority vote to appoint Charles (Chuck) Torelli to serve in the vacant At Large City Council position through the end of this year. The appointed candidate will need to run for the position in November, 2019 to continue on City Council after the term ends in December.
Mr. Torelli will be sworn in at the next Council meeting on Tuesday, January 15th, at 6:30 pm. Mr. Torelli has been serving on the City’s Planning Commission since April, 2017. “It was a long day but a good day to interview such a great slate of high-quality candidates,” said Mayor Don Britain. “It was exciting to see the commitment and desire of so many who want to serve Kennewick and we truly appreciate the amazing response and interest,” Mayor Britain added. The Council position being filled was previously held by Councilmember Matt Boehnke. Matt Boehnke resigned from Council, effective December 31st, in order to focus his efforts on his new position as State Representative.
