Scout Clean Energy is seeking permit authorization through the Washington State Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council (EFSEC) for the Horse Heaven Wind Project. The project includes up to 244 turbine locations, two solar arrays, and battery storage systems covering 24 miles of viewshed along the Horse Heaven Hills in Benton County.

The Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce is conducting a public opinion survey to help determine community sentiment about the proposed Horse Heaven Wind Project to identify issues of greatest interest and concern to the region.

The three-question survey will be open for two weeks: Thursday, March 25 – Thursday, April 8. Let your voice be heard! Please take the survey & share it with others.

Not only do wind turbines hurt birds and are terrible eye sores, but the amount of oil products they use defeats the purpose of them. They produce much less electricity than dams, are subsidized by the government which cost taxpayers, and the electricity is sold to other states! The turbines depend on correct wind speed; if too cold and ice up, they could come apart; and they are known to fling the blades as they come apart and start fires. It is not the clean affordable energy they are supposed to produce. And the blades are not environmentally worth it because they cannot be reused and are BURIED IN A BLADE CEMETERY.
Have you witnessed the horrible mess they can make?? I have, in Kansas! I object to any turbines being erected on the Horse Heaven Hills or anywhere. Please do not do this horrible project.

We have enough windmills in our area. Please don't let outsiders ruin our beautiful Horse Heaven Hills!!!

Bring them on! Creates jobs, great to look at, and there is plenty of wind to take care of them. We also need them.

You do not know much about the windmills, do you. Read about how much they cost, how long they last, and where they are dumped. PLEASE...read about them. Thank you.

Wind turbines cost too much. Up keep is costly too much noise and is not that energy efficient

Windmills will not be able to replace our already renewable, far less expensive dams and nuclear power. In other words, they are not needed!!!! Why destroy the beauty of our land and animals with the expensive follies of the misguided and ignorant “greenies” to satisfy their wishful thinking with nightmares for the reasonable? We must learn the lessons of the now regular California blackouts and Texas failures! Repeating those mistakes is pure lunacy!

Our monies would be FAR BETTER spent in building the smaller "Package Nuclear" powerhouses near Hanford#2.

It would have been great if the survey explained the scale. Hopefully I read it the correct way or my answers completely opposite

wind turbines have been studied and have been proven to be a waste of land, and a non producing energy source, it is a embarrassment for our politicians to promote this waste of tax payers money, say no

The only person's profiting from this are being subsidized by the federal government. These folks are leaving us garbage on the horizon. Once the equipment no longer works, where do the blades and pedastals go? Possibly, right where they are? I have already seen broken blades, pedestal rusting on the ground. Does the value of a dollar mean more than what we have and will have here? There are many more ways to build our community.

I oppose this wind farm as it conflicts with:

1.) Conflicts with Benton County's Land Use Designation of GMA-AG

2.) The project is located within WDFW's priority area for the "threatened" species Ferruginous Hawk.

I am not in favor of the Horse Heaven Wind Project. It's too large, too tall, and has had insufficient environmental review.

NIMBY - Not In My Back Yard
If you don't think that a Windfarm is a terrible Eye Sore, and a future environmental blight, then I suggest the following effort.
Propose a 244 unit windfarm in Boulder County, Colorado.
The wind in Boulder Colorado is perfect for a great windfarm.
The people of Boulder, where this investment company, Scout Clean Energy, is located, would have an absolute FIT, We, in Benton County, are only a distant resource for their NIMBY investments.
Say NO to creating the HORSE "HELL" HILLS Windfarm

This has already been studied by Benton PUD and documented as a bad plan for our area. Windmills in Eastern WA are simply Olympia's plan to remove our dams and establish rolling blackouts along with excessive utility costs. There have also been six independent resulting in advisement to keep the dams. But Olympia is looking for anyone willing to sell out to justify dam removal despite the science provided in the studies. Yes, this would provide jobs and give the landowners money. But the long term effects are more damaging than the limited gains.

The amount of birds including bald eagles that are supposedly protected killed are not reported. We are also a MAJOR bird migration corridor. This would interfere with that. They say these last 25 years yet there are ones currently being decommissioned in 15 and they are not recycled but burried. Ask yourself why are they made in China and not here if they are so great and cost effective.

Land Survey is very essential and those land must at use for whatever beneficial to people. This is a way long discussions, but don't politicize it. just saying!
