The annual Tri-Cities Women in Business Conference typically takes place in January, but has been postponed to later in the year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked past ATHENA Award recipients for their favorite inspirational quotes, podcasts, books, and more to help motivate you through 2021.
Words of Wisdom
My motto the past year has been to “Live my life, not to simply exist in my life”. I have made several significant changes as a result. While many of these changes have been extremely challenging, I’m determined to live my best life and be the best example I can be to my children.
Die Empty by Todd Henry - It opens with a quote: “Alas for those that never sing, but die with all their music in them” - Oliver Wendell Holmes. It’s about unleashing your best self everyday. While the emphasis is on your work life, it resonates in your personal life as well. Do what you love, give your all and don’t wait. Knock those items off your bucket list. Life is short and there are no guarantees. Take that trip, get that degree, end that toxic relationship, challenge yourself. Live.

Tips on Keeping Motivated in 2021
I try my best to see the blessings despite the challenges of the past year. Reconnecting with family and friends. Slowing down. I have been able to enjoy my home, bake, and appreciate fresh air and the outdoors.
I have had to learn to accept and even ask for help. Friends and family are eager to provide service in times of distress or trials. Swallow your pride and allow your tribe to support you and help you recover. Then you can pay it forward and provide that same service to others.
